Here is my Body is a series of associative assemblages, or presentation boards, or cabinets of curiosity, or cuts toward pleasure. I use antique real photo postcards from eBay as a “primary” source of access to the roots of modern white queer-trans identities. Here are the bodies: the androgyne turns away, hands pluck, grasp, celebrate, women kiss and mime through a sculptural desert, hold eachother in marble embrace, terracotta embrace, silver embrace, furtive, impossible embrace. Angry pink grafts are held in place with tape and staples until they attach. Here is the unruly collector in me: librarian’s tape around bougainvillea blossoms, hands holding reproduction vases, reproduction lyres, projection slides, the turn of the hip or wrist or eye that is queer semaphore. I am a bad historian but I still want to be touched by history. I’ve strapped it in. I carry it with me. I’ve adorned it for this occasion.
